Job Description

Right now, we are looking for an Area Manager Water Treatment Plant for our Project Delivery team. In this role you will report to our Area Director Green Steel and work within our Project Delivery function. The team is responsible for delivering one of the world's most advanced industrial projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution across all project phases. As Area Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the Water Treatment Plant area, leading delivery from construction through commissioning and handover. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage EPCM partners, OEMs, and contractors, and ensure the area is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Own the delivery of the Water Treatment Plant area, including scope, quality, schedule, and budget
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate EPCM partners, OEMs, and contractors to ensure aligned execution
  • Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE requirements and industry best practices
  • Develop and execute area strategies, work packages, and procurement plans in collaboration with Engineering, Procurement, and Project Managers
  • Manage area budgets, forecasts, priorities, and resource allocation across multiple work packages
  • Oversee area schedules and remove execution constraints through structured lookahead planning
  • Monitor performance, risks, productivity, and project controls data to support informed decision-making
  • Coordinate interfaces with adjacent areas, utilities, and shared services while driving collaboration across the project

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or similar)
  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience, including leadership roles within large capital projects
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in complex industrial, energy, infrastructure, mining, metals, battery, or manufacturing projects
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, construction management, engineering, quality, and commissioning processes
  • Experience managing contractors, EPCM organizations, and multiple stakeholders in large project environments
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, risks, and project performance across a large delivery scope
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience with water treatment facilities or related process plants is considered a strong advantage

  • Oversee and lead a team of Wastewater Plant Operators that include operators, mechanics, and technicians to support and maintain facility operations
  • Responsible for collecting and analyzing wastewater samples in field and laboratory conditions for all regulatory and process parameters (flow, TSS, BOD5, COD, FC, DO, MLSS, etc.)
  • Responsible for ensuring proper/timely PM’s are conducted, cleaning, and maintaining efficient operating equipment/processes
  • Maintain state laboratory certification and function as Chemical Hygiene Officer for the wastewater laboratory. Required to perform annual method certification and routine QA/QC testing
  • Identify, trouble shoot, and apply problem solving methods for any issues that arise concerning the correct operation of the wastewater treatment plant or any of its functions
  • Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving performance
  • Oversee regulatory compliance of a NPDES direct discharge permit with support from facility EHS manager
