The Role: You will also be responsible for a large group of skilled trades maintenance group leaders and skilled trades team members. You will hold responsibility over these skilled trades employees, including the work involves a considerable amount of creativity and perception and a high level of discernment in making decisions. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Responsible for training others.

Job Responsibility

  • A leader of skilled trades team with members who possess diverse skill sets and have similar overall objectives. Typically leads other individual contributors and at times leads other people leaders.
  • Sets strategy and implements solutions to problems and sets schedule and quality requirements.
  • Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements.
  • Implements divisional and corporate policies, safety and good housekeeping practices.
  • Frequent collaboration with others outside of the work group.

  • Obtains a deep knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience in skilled trades
  • Experience with unions or UAW
  • 5 years of experience in a people leader role
  • Ability to work / rotate through all 3 shifts as needed
  • Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • 10 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment
