About the Opportunity Amentum are looking for an Archivist to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract (Part-time) to deliver an archiving solution for our long term records. The Archivist’s responsibilities include working with sensitive records to determine an innovative archiving solution to enable easy and effective record storage and retrieval.

Job Responsibility

  • Documenting existing cataloguing/retrieval techniques. Thoroughly and accurately catalogue a variety of documents using established cataloguing standards and metadata schemas. Create detailed records that facilitate easy retrieval and identification of documents
  • Metadata Creation: Develop and apply appropriate metadata to documents, enhancing their discoverability and contextual understanding for researchers, historians, and other users
  • Digitisation: Collaborate with ongoing digital archive projects to ensure alignment
  • Reference Services: Provide research assistance to internal staff. Assist users in locating and utilising documents effectively for their project needs
  • Continuous Improvement: Assess the existing techniques employed and advise/develop alternative techniques to preserve accessibility of records

Requirements

  • Proficiency in archival principles, cataloguing standards, and metadata schemas
  • Proven work experience as an Archivist or similar role
  • Knowledge of various types of documents to determine the relevant importance of a record
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as an Archivist
  • Strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
