We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Architecture Principal to join our dynamic team in Warsaw. This pivotal role will be responsible for defining and driving the architectural strategy for large-scale compute platforms spanning multiple cloud providers, leveraging cutting-edge Kubernetes and serverless technologies. The role will be focusing on Citi's market-leading centralized Risk Platform - XiP. XiP, a greenfield build over the last ten years, executes 1.5 billion risk calculations per day and aims to 10x this capacity over the coming years. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader, capable of shaping the future of our cloud infrastructure and ensuring its scalability, resilience, and efficiency.
Job Responsibility
Define, design, and evangelize architectural patterns and best practices for large-scale compute environments across hybrid and multi-cloud platforms.
Lead the architectural vision and strategy for Kubernetes-based container orchestration and serverless computing paradigms.
Collaborate with engineering teams, product management, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to architects and engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Evaluate new technologies and trends, making recommendations for their adoption to enhance our platform capabilities.
Ensure architectural designs align with enterprise standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
Drive continuous improvement in architectural processes, documentation, and governance.
Act as a subject matter expert, offering guidance and resolving complex technical challenges related to cloud architecture.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in software development or infrastructure architecture, with at least 5 years in a lead architectural role.
Deep expertise in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.
Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deployment, management, and optimization in production environments.
Strong experience with serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions) and their application in enterprise settings.
Demonstrable experience working with multiple cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Profound understanding of cloud-native principles, microservices architecture, and API design.
Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead technical discussions at all levels.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Nice to have
Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect).
Experience with advanced networking concepts in cloud environments.
Knowledge of security best practices in cloud and containerized environments.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
