Job Description:

Our expanding business seeks experienced Architectural Designers (Level II & III) with a passion for thoughtful, forward-thinking design. The candidate will lead/assist in the design and development of projects, produce design presentation material and assist in the production and documentation of construction documents.

Job Responsibility:

  • Working with an architectural/engineering team in preparing construction documents for various public building-type projects in Public Housing, K-12 Schools and Transportation market sectors
  • Contributing to the development of distinct portions of a project with periodic supervision by project leadership
  • exhibiting initiative, process innovation, problem-solving, and decision quality with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Producing and coordinating presentation and contract deliverables such as diagrams, 3D models, drawings and renderings
  • Preparing architectural plans
  • performing analysis of design and construction systems, planning studies, design layouts and construction details
  • Conducting research and writing/editing specifications, including coordinating with manufacturers
  • Conducting site and construction inspections for information-gathering purposes
  • preparing written reports
  • Integrating interdisciplinary criteria to effectively move forward the design portion of a project
  • Actively collaborating with a project team by critically and constructively evaluating ideas
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of building materials, systems, specifications, codes, details and construction techniques. Must be able to enrich design concepts through technical strategies and effectively use appropriate tools to design and document at all project phases

Requirements:

  • 5-Year B. Arch or M. Arch degree required
  • Minimum 5 (Level II) & 10 ( Level III) years of professional experience with a good understanding of building systems, excellent production skills and an ability to develop design concepts
  • Must have started or completed The NCARB Architectural Experience Program (AXP)
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD are required
  • Knowledge of the International building code and construction standards
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with a “can do” work attitude
  • Organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Capable of working effectively both independently and within a team, depending on project needs
  • Strong communication skills and excellent graphic presentation skills
  • Knowledge of architectural design development, CD’s, codes, standards and other disciplines

Nice to have:

  • LEED Accreditation is a plus
  • Prior MTA, SCA, NYCHA or other Public housing experience strongly desired
  • Proficiency in other associated design (Microstation) and office software is a plus
