SCB is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary design firm with a national presence. We currently have several high-profile projects scheduled to start construction in the Los Angeles area and are looking for a talented individual as Architect/Construction Specialist to lead our team in bringing these exciting projects into reality. Ideal candidates will exhibit a passion for design and executing that design through the construction process. A collaborative spirit is key, as is a strong set of people skills needed to facilitate the work. Although we initially need someone to assist with construction services, this position has the potential for growth into other roles at SCB.
Job Responsibility:
Lead our CA team in a dynamic and collaborative environment
Lead Construction Administration services for the construction phase of one or more projects
Communicate and coordinate effectively, while maintaining positive communication with other project team members
Assume ownership of assignments and meet deadlines with diligence
Requirements:
5 or 6-year accredited professional degree in architecture
8+ years minimum post-graduate, full-time professional experience
Prior, significant, construction phase experience
Experience negotiating the demands and relationships between owner, contractor, and consulting team
A passion for design, a pulse on emerging trends, and a developed point of view about your work
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the capability to influence outcomes
Acute attention to detail and aesthetic sensibility
Enthusiasm for utilizing a diverse set of approaches to creative problem solving
Ability to oversee multiple tasks and establish priorities
Experience with state and local building codes and accessibility requirements
Demonstrated ability to maintain high design standards through city entitlement/permitting processes, technical documentation, and construction administration
Strong knowledge of construction materials, technical research, systems, and documentation at all project phases
Ability to travel locally and conduct field observation walks and meetings
Campus, multi-family residential, or commercial experience preferred
Basic understanding of Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
