Job Description

Broadbent & Associates, Inc. is seeking curriculum vitae from qualified candidates for an Archaeology Field Director (Project Archaeologist) in Henderson, NV. This is a permanent, full-time, salaried position. Candidates may have a specialty in historical, industrial, or prehistoric archaeology.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage cultural resources fieldwork projects in Nevada, California, Utah, Colorado, and Arizona
  • Communicate effectively with the field crew
  • Record and evaluate the full range of cultural resources typically found in the Mojave Desert, Great Basin, Colorado Plateau, and surrounding regions
  • Participate on survey, excavation, and monitoring projects
  • Safely drive field vehicles
  • Read topographic maps for navigation in the field
  • Work from Broadbent's Henderson office
  • Actively collaborate with the larger cultural resources team
  • Demonstrate a mix of office and field skills

Requirements

  • A. or B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field
  • Qualify as a Crew Chief or Principal Investigator Statewide in Arizona and Nevada and/or neighboring states for federally issued Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) permits, Cultural Resources Use Permits (CRUP) and State permits
  • Training and experience implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
  • Five years of experience working in a consulting company, state agency, or federal agency
  • Ability to perform both fieldwork and office activities independently and with a team
  • Experience with data entry, producing site forms, and professional communication such as emails and letters.
  • Experience writing professional reports for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
