Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants
Ability to identify and deal with hazardous and problem trees
Records maintenance skills
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
Knowledge of horticultural practices, plant taxonomy, and insect/disease control

Job Responsibility

Ensure that works are carried out effectively to achieve quality and financial objectives, ensuring the safety of all contractors and public at all times
Identify structural defects of trees during the normal course of duties
Operate plan and equipment as directed, such as, but not limited to: Tipper trucks, stump grinders, woodchippers, chainsaws and EWP’s and to maintain all mechanical equipment, carryout daily service, and checks
Prune, deadwood, pollard trees using full safety and climbing equipment in an approved manner
Removal of roots and stumps by various methods including use of stump grinding machine
Treat tree stumps with approved herbicides
Fell trees of all sizes in a safe and controlled manner
Report accidents and incidents ensuring that all Accident Forms and associated documentation is completed accurately and promptly
