Arborist

• Ensure that works are carried out effectively to achieve quality and financial objectives, ensuring the safety of all contractors and public at all times
• Identify structural defects of trees during the normal course of duties
• Operate plan and equipment as directed, such as, but not limited to: Tipper trucks, stump grinders, woodchippers, chainsaws and EWP’s and to maintain all mechanical equipment, carryout daily service, and checks
• Prune, deadwood, pollard trees using full safety and climbing equipment in an approved manner
• Removal of roots and stumps by various methods including use of stump grinding machine
• Treat tree stumps with approved herbicides
• Fell trees of all sizes in a safe and controlled manner
• Report accidents and incidents ensuring that all Accident Forms and associated documentation is completed accurately and promptly

• Relevant qualifications
• Minimum 2 years’ experience
• Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants
• Ability to identify and deal with hazardous and problem trees
• Records maintenance skills
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
• Knowledge of horticultural practices, plant taxonomy, and insect/disease control
