Northpower is looking for an experienced Arborist to join our team and play a key role in maintaining the safety and reliability of our powerline networks. From climbing and trimming to managing vegetation around critical infrastructure, your work will directly support uninterrupted power supply for our customers. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll be based out of our Hamilton depot and will work across a range of vegetation maintenance activities, including transmission network vegetation works.
Job Responsibility
Managing and carrying out vegetation works across the transmission network
Operating chainsaws, chippers, and other arborist equipment
Tree climbing, pruning, trimming, felling, and planting
Working from climbing systems and elevated platforms
Liaising with landowners, suppliers, and other stakeholders
Ensuring all work is completed safely, compliantly, and to a high standard
Requirements
A Level 3 Arborist qualification (or higher) with strong practical experience
Confidence in climbing, pruning, rigging, felling, and dismantling trees
Experience operating chainsaws and chippers
A strong safety-first mindset and good physical fitness
The ability to work well within a team and communicate clearly
A full NZ Class 1 driver licence (Class 2 preferred)
Nice to have
A Certificate in Electrical Supply (Vegetation Control) is an advantage
Experience working near high-voltage networks is preferred, but not essential
Experience working around power networks is an advantage
