Job Description:

Manages the activities of the Aquatic Resources Program, ensuring that the Hospital provides exemplary support and services for institutional investigators that wish to utilize zebra fish as a research model. Manages a dedicated technical staff and all research personnel in their use of fish and the aquatic facilities. Provides support for investigators in the development of Animal Research Protocols involving the use of fish.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manages the activities of the Aquatic Resources Program
  • Advises, educates and meets with investigators planning to use zebra fish for research
  • Provides direct supervision, guidance and coaching to Aquatic Resources Program technical staff
  • Develops and maintains a high level of customer service providing timely, accurate and expert support to researchers
  • Develops, monitors and maintains operating and capital budgets
  • Implements/maintains institutional training program for all fish users
  • Supports all business functions of Aquatic Resources Program
  • Plans strategies to meet short- and long-term fish care and research needs
  • Informs and advises principal investigators and others of hospital policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Oversees maintenance and operation of highly specialized equipment designed to support aquatic life
  • Provides information and documentation for regulatory/monitoring agencies and hospital committees as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Biological sciences with a specific focus on aquatic biology/aquaculture is required
  • At least 6 years of related experience is required
  • AALAS Certification is preferred
  • Master’s Degree is preferred
