The Department of Inpatient Advanced Practice Providers is seeking a pediatric‑trained Advanced Practice Provider to join the growing Pediatric Surgery service at UNM Hospital, the only Level I Trauma Center in New Mexico. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to care for pediatric patients across General Surgery and Pediatric Trauma, serving children and families from across the state. Responsibilities focus on inpatient perioperative management, with one dedicated day each week in the Pediatric Surgery Clinic. We are looking for a motivated, adaptable APP who is passionate about pediatric care and excited to help expand and shape this vital service in the years ahead. Job Responsibility
Function in a specialized area of advance practice in the role of practitioner, mentor, consultant, educator, researcher and manager
Establish goals and priorities in accordance with patient and staff needs and organizational objectives
Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures
Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups
Requirements
Program Graduate
Advanced Nurse or Physician Assistant
1 year directly related experience
CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
Advanced Practice RN or Physician Asst Lic & NCCPA Cert
Pediatric Nursing Certification as applicable
ACLS or PALS (as applicable) within 30 days of hire
Prescriptive Authority from the State of New Mexico
State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification
Nice to have
Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
Specialization in applicable area
3 years directly related experience
