Job Description

Earn as you learn, combining study for an SVQ in Highways Maintenance and Roadbuilding Maintenance (Construction) in Scotland, with industry experience at the largest independent construction materials group in the UK. This is a 24/7 operation so flexibility to working hours is key. There will be 2 weeks of block training, which could be residential, depending on where you live. Breedon will cover the costs of any accommodation, travel and meals.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the surfacing, resurfacing and improvement of vast stretches of roads and the highway network
  • Help with the removal of old roads and surfaces, preparing for the new surface
  • Complete inspections and testing of the new surfaces
  • Learn how to operate a wide range of specialist plant machinery such as rollers and spreaders

Requirements

  • National 4 in Maths & English desirable although not essential
  • Basic IT skills to use work systems e.g. excel, work, etc.
  • Enthusiasm for working in the great outdoors
  • A full UK Driving Licence
  • The desire to get stuck in and work as part of a team
  • Flexibility with your working hours and be able to work nights and weekends
  • The ability to work away from home with possible overnight stays
  • Minimum age of 18 (by July 2026)
