Job Description

Are you a mechanic who’s looking to pass on your skills and experience or currently an Automotive Assessor looking for you next move. Look no further as we’re looking for a full-time permanent Assessor (Apprentice Skills Coach) in Automotive. You must have an NVQ Level 3 in Automotive. If you do we’ll provide the qualifications and skills needed to assessors / verify. We’ll put you through your Assessor qualifications (A1, TAQA, D32) and give you the skills you needed to support with the training needs of learners through a range of methodologies. As a highly engaged and motivated Assessor (Apprentice Skills Coach), you will have a genuine desire to improve the life chances of our learners whilst being a strong experienced team player with excellent communication skills.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver training, assessing and quality assuring work-based learning programmes in line with the college’s Apprenticeship Strategy
  • Support the training needs of learners through a range of methodologies
  • Work towards the growth of high quality, employer focused provision that maximises opportunities for learners to achieve and progress into sustained employment

Requirements

  • Relevant occupational experience
  • Literacy/Numeracy to at least Level 2
  • NVQ Level 3 in Automotive
  • Enthusiastic, resilient and highly motivated individual

  • PSV engineering experience is essential

  • Take the lead on complex mechanical and electrical diagnostics across our PSV fleet
  • Diagnose and repair issues across engines, gearboxes, axles, body systems and high-voltage equipment
  • Work with advanced systems including CAN Line, After-Treatment Exhaust Systems, Multiplex networks, Euro5/Euro6 engines and hybrid technologies
  • Be the technical authority for fault investigations, root cause analysis and system performance
  • Act as custodian of all technical campaigns and fleet checks, ensuring our buses meet the highest safety and compliance standards
  • Provide expert advice to the Engineering Manager and liaise with OEM suppliers, chassis manufacturers and technical support teams
  • Support engineers across the depot and mentor apprentices where required
  • Carry out technical projects and trials on behalf of the wider Engineering leadership team
