Performs apprenticeship duties mentored by managers, group leads, electricians and senior apprentices. The apprentice learns to read and interpret layout and schematic drawings in order to assemble, install and wire electrical components and sub-assemblies on robotic work cells and industrial automation systems.
Job Responsibility:
Perform apprenticeship duties mentored by managers, group leads, electricians and senior apprentices
Learn to read and interpret layout and schematic drawings to assemble, install and wire electrical components and sub-assemblies on robotic work cells and industrial automation systems
Locate and convey tools and materials to specific project locations
Determine mounting locations for devices using layout drawings
Drill, tap and mount all components using appropriate fasteners
Measure, cut and bend conduit
Learn to use and maintain all tools and associated electrical equipment
Read and interpret schematic drawings, layouts and other specifications
Perform panel wiring, cell wiring and system wiring, including installation of conduits and wireways
Assist senior electricians to isolate and correct defects in wiring, switches, motor and other electrical equipment
Assist in the tear down and shipping process
Travel to customer sites as required for installation and re-integration of systems
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards
Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
Refrain from removing or altering safety devices unless hazardous energies are controlled
Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
Report defects in any equipment or protective device
Ensure required protective equipment is used
Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
Requirements:
Grade 12 diploma specializing in electricity and electronics, or equivalent is preferred
Practical, working knowledge of electrical wiring, electrical troubleshooting and electronics
Keen interest in learning
Capable of working in a team environment
Able to maintain a positive attitude and consistent contribution to the projects assigned
