Requirements

Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Electrician, a Construction and Maintenance Electrician or equivalent certifications from other Provinces or Countries
A completed apprenticeship and/or two to three years of hands-on electrical wiring, troubleshooting and maintenance experience as a licensed electrician
Must be capable of working in a team environment and be able to maintain a positive attitude and consistent contribution to the projects assigned

Job Responsibility

Take direction from the Manager, Electrical Assembly and/or the designated Group Lead Electrician
Using the electrical design package and customer specifications for reference
plans and coordinates work required to assemble and wire control panels, HMI’s and other sub-assemblies
Use the MRP system to check on availability of parts for the job
Perform panel wiring, cell wiring and system wiring, including installation of conduits and wireways
Report any issues regarding workmanship or design to the Lead Electrician or the Manager, Electrical Assembly
Ensure that all print updates are being completed and that rework is properly recorded
Following OHSC rules and regulations
determine power requirements for projects and install bus plugs, conduits and cord drops to transformers and/or directly to control panel disconnects
Using established procedures for “Power up and Test” perform power up and electrical testing and troubleshooting of the control system in order to enable the start of integration. Repair and/or replace defective components of the system as required

Testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
Inspecting systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
Directing or training workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
