During our 3 year Heavy Vehicle Advanced Apprenticeship Programme, you will learn all aspects of heavy vehicle technology which are embedded in this dedicated programme focusing on electronics, diagnostics and computer management systems.

  • Hold a City & Guilds (Parts 1, 2 & 3), NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent in HGV maintenance

  • Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs on vehicles, including warranty work, ensuring tasks are completed to agreed deadlines and in line with manufacturer and regulatory standards
  • Prepare and present HGVs for annual MOT testing
  • Diagnose faults and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, accurately reporting any defects
  • Complete service documentation and job records in line with company procedures, and follow incident and near-miss reporting processes where required
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment, complying with health and safety regulations, Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), and risk assessments, including correct use of PPE
  • Support and guide apprentice technicians while contributing positively to the wider team
  • Provide roadside assistance when safe to do so and participate in ongoing training to maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge
  • Work reliably to agreed hours, with flexibility to support operational needs, including occasional cover at other site

  • Our HGV Technicians are required on occasions to work at height, which requires the use of safety equipment that have a manufacturers’ guaranteed load bearing weight limit of 140kg. In order to protect our employees’ safety, we operate a strict weight limit in these roles of 140kg. As part of our application process, you will be required to declare that you do not weigh in excess of this.
