Job Description:

We're looking for someone to join our team as an Apprentice Gas Engineer in September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and driven individual looking to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced team. A chance to work on properties sites across the south of England, building affordable homes which will provide shelter to those in most housing need.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist mentor in carrying out work and installations to Abri's properties efficiently and effectively
  • Develop skills and competency relevant to gas servicing
  • Assist competent Gas Engineers with day-to-day repairs, maintenance and servicing
  • Consistently develop & demonstrate an understanding of Health & Safety requirements, other relevant legislation and Codes of Practice
  • Notify electrically competent colleagues of any identified electrical or health & safety hazards
  • Attend college and complete all course work on time and to a high standard

  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance within agreed programmes, budgets, and quality standards
  • Conduct inspections, diagnose system faults, fit replacement parts, and complete repairs on all heating and hot water systems
  • Carry out gas servicing, HIU servicing, and system breakdown work
  • Test smoke and CO alarms in accordance with safety requirements
  • Complete job sheets, PDA updates, daily logs, and weekly timesheets accurately and on time

  • Communicate effectively with residents, clients and colleagues to ensure smooth delivery and excellent customer experience
  • Liaise with the Gas Supervisor to report progress, issues and customer feedback
  • Mentor and support apprentices or colleagues where required
