Job Description:

Peak Nano is looking for an Optical Scientist with in-depth knowledge of optics and optical software development. A top candidate will be able to troubleshoot manufacturing issues via digital modeling and develop & implement algorithms for design and manufacturing.

Job Responsibility:

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics, Optics, or Mathematics + 5 years of direct experience
  • Proficient with MATLAB
  • Demonstrated ability to design optical systems in Zemax or Code V
  • Proficient with optical tolerancing and specifying lens fabrication specifications/drawings
  • 2+ years of experience with optical software development
  • US Citizenship

Nice to have:

  • Advanced mathematics – Strong knowledge of advanced calculus, differential geometry, ordinary differential equations, linear algebra, functional analysis, finite element analysis, and partial differential equations
  • Extensive optical physics – Strong knowledge of Maxwell’s equations, ray optics, polarization, diffraction, diffractive optics, wave propagation, Fourier optics, EM propagation through thin-layer coatings, electro-optics, and ray behavior in inhomogeneous mediums
  • Optical design background – Strong knowledge of aberration theory, image performance analysis, radiometry, design to manufacturing, and programming in optical design software such as Code V, Zemax, and FRED
  • Physics background – Strong understanding of physical laws modeled with mathematical equations, solid mechanics, statics, dynamics, and thermodynamics
  • Numerical analysis background – Strong knowledge of optimization theory, finite element methods, numerical algorithms, and approximation theory
  • Digest Academic Literature - Read, understand, and implement research literature with highly dense mathematical language
