The Sr Associate IS Engineer position offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) organization. You’ll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen’s Applied AI & Automation Footprint. Beyond day-to-day operations, you will lead complex initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and serve as a technical point of contact for platform consumers, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders. The Sr Associate IS Engineer is expected to operate with minimal supervision, lead incident response and platform improvements, and contribute to the long-term platform strategy while ensuring adherence to quality, security, and GxP compliance requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Own the operational health, reliability, and performance of Intelligent Automation platforms such as UiPath, and Power Automate
Define and maintain service reliability practices including availability targets, SLAs, monitoring, alerting, and observability (logs, metrics, traces)
Lead major incident management, including coordination, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of long-term corrective actions
Lead platform upgrades, patches, and hotfixes, including planning, validation, rollback, and stakeholder communication
Govern releases and environment promotions via CI/CD
enforce segregation of duties and package/code signing
Ensure disaster recovery readiness, backup strategies, and resilience testing
Own capacity planning, demand forecasting, and proactive scaling strategies
Manage and optimize platform licensing, utilization, and cost efficiency
Ensure ongoing GxP compliance, validation readiness, and audit support for automation platforms
Define and maintain platform documentation including architecture, operational runbooks, disaster recovery, and validation artifacts
Lead onboarding, enablement, and knowledge-sharing initiatives for platform users and engineering teams
Act as a senior technical point of contact for platform consumers, product teams, architects, security, and infrastructure partners
Translate business and product demand into operational priorities and platform improvements
Influence platform standards, patterns, and best practices across the automation ecosystem
Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical reviews and operational coaching
Follow Agile and ITIL practices for operational work, including backlog management, sprint planning, and continuous service improvement
Track and report operational KPIs such as uptime, MTTR, change failure rate, and license utilization
Requirements:
Any degree and 4 to 8 years of experience with software development technologies
Proven experience operating and leading Intelligent Automation platforms (UiPath, Power Automate)
Hands-on experience with GxP systems, validation, and audit readiness
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, release governance, and environment management
Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and problem-solving skills
Ability to independently own platform components and mentor junior engineers

Ability to influence decisions and drive outcomes without formal authority
Demonstrated collaboration skills in cross-functional, global teams
