The release automation engineer must be able to automate and manage the software release process, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, scripting deployments, and ensuring software deployments are efficient and reliable. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Application teams, product engineering and operations teams, troubleshooting release issues, and optimizing processes to deliver high-quality software releases consistently and efficiently.
Job Responsibility:
Automate and manage the software release process
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Script deployments
Ensure software deployments are efficient and reliable
Mine and analyze large sets of data related to releases and deployment failures
Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in release management area using data-driven insights
Define and deploy key SRE metrics (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets) for deployment process and support processes
Institute feedback models working alongside with App teams, product engineering teams and operations teams
Conduct research and publish artifacts to drive enhancements in deployment automation area
Review/Author operational procedures related to CI/CD best practices
Perform troubleshooting, diagnose and resolve problems in CI/CD pipelines using tools especially Jenkins, RLM, Harness
Design and develop configuration scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks
Establish foundational and execution work streams for process improvement and automation initiatives
Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting to provide visibility into release management performance
Participate in on-call rotation and incident response activities
Requirements:
10+ years of DevOps experience
At least 2 years as a Deployment Automation/Release Management Engineer
Deep understanding of core SRE principles and practices including Observability, Performance Optimization, toil reduction, error budgets, SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, and blameless post-mortems
Knowledge or experience with tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack for infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration management
Familiarity with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker Swarm)
Strong command-line proficiency and experience with Linux/Unix system administration
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and network security concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to collaborate with development, operations and business teams
An initiative-taking mindset
Ability to quickly learn modern technologies and adapting to evolving environments
Nice to have:
Knowledge or experience with tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack for infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration management is a plus
Familiarity with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker Swarm) is a plus
Strong command-line proficiency and experience with Linux/Unix system administration preferred
