Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Packaging and Deployment Specialist with a strong focus on Tanium. This role is crucial for managing the entire software lifecycle within our organization, from application packaging and testing to secure and scalable deployment using the Tanium platform. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of enterprise application deployment best practices, excellent scripting abilities, and a proven track record of leveraging Tanium for efficient endpoint management.

Job Responsibility:

  • Package, test, and prepare software applications for enterprise wide deployment, ensuring compatibility and stability across various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
  • Utilize industry standard packaging tools (e.g., InstallShield, Flexera AdminStudio, MSIX packaging) to create clean, silent, and robust application packages (MSI, MST, EXE, App V)
  • Develop and maintain packaging standards, documentation, and best practices
  • Perform application compatibility testing and troubleshoot packaging issues
  • Design, implement, and manage software deployments and updates using Tanium Deploy and other relevant Tanium modules
  • Leverage Tanium's real time capabilities to query endpoints for software inventory, compliance, and deployment status
  • Create and optimize Tanium Packages, Bundles, and Deployments for various software installations, updates, and removals
  • Configure and utilize Tanium Self Service for end user software installations
  • Develop Tanium Sensors and Packages to address specific application deployment or troubleshooting needs
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (primarily PowerShell
  • Python and VBScript are a plus) for streamlining application packaging, deployment, and remediation processes within the Tanium environment
  • Utilize scripting for pre/post installation tasks, error handling, and complex deployment scenarios
  • Provide expert level troubleshooting for application deployment failures and endpoint related software issues
  • Perform root cause analysis for deployment problems and implement effective solutions

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise level software packaging and deployment
  • 3+ years of hands on experience with Tanium, specifically with Tanium Deploy and other endpoint management modules (e.g., Tanium Core, Asset, Patch)
  • Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting
  • In depth knowledge of Windows operating systems, including registry, file system, and Windows Installer technology
  • Solid understanding of application dependencies, installation behaviors, and silent installation methodologies
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues

Nice to have:

  • Experience with other endpoint management tools (e.g., Microsoft SCCM/ConfigMgr, Microsoft Intune MDM) is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Python and VBScript scripting languages
