Job Description:

We’re looking for a skilled Application Modernisation Specialist to play a key role in transforming legacy applications across operational environments. You’ll be responsible for assessing existing systems, identifying opportunities for improvement, and leading the transition to modern, secure, and high-performing platforms. This is a hands-on position that requires collaboration with site teams, technical stakeholders, and vendors to ensure smooth delivery of robust, maintainable solutions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Analyse legacy applications to determine suitability for upgrade, redevelopment, or re-hosting
  • Identify gaps and recommend modernisation or re-architecture strategies
  • Work with on-site teams to refactor and align applications with operational requirements
  • Lead migration projects to modern technologies, including evaluating and implementing COTS products
  • Review and address system vulnerabilities through patching, updates, and compliance checks
  • Ensure modernised systems integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure
  • Support ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement through managed service frameworks
  • Conduct detailed assessments to pinpoint defects, support limitations, and potential vulnerabilities
  • Apply vendor updates and patches to maintain stability and compliance
  • Coordinate with suppliers to explore migration routes to supported platforms
  • Advise stakeholders on upgrade or rewrite options when necessary
  • Develop and document modernisation and migration strategies
  • Maintain accurate records of application assets and lifecycle changes

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in application modernisation, infrastructure support, or related disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of legacy and contemporary systems (Microsoft or Linux environments)
  • Awareness of security principles, patch management, and compliance standards
  • Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
  • Experience within operational technology (OT) environments is advantageous, though not required
