The Application Hosting Engineer is responsible for the administration, stability, automation, and modernization of enterprise application hosting platforms, primarily Microsoft IIS (.NET). Goot to have Oracle WebLogic, and IBM WebSphere Application Server / IBM Liberty. This role ensures highly available, secure, and scalable application runtimes across multiple data centers, supporting both internet-facing and internal mission-critical applications. Responsibilities include platform patching, performance tuning, certificate management, troubleshooting, and leveraging automation and observability to reduce operational toil.
Job Responsibility:
Administer IIS web farms hosting enterprise .NET applications across Windows Server platforms
Configure websites, application pools, bindings, authentication, authorization, and access controls
Apply standardized IIS configuration templates for security and operational consistency
Automate IIS administration using PowerShell scripts and Ansible playbooks
Manage SSL/TLS certificates and support automated certificate renewal solutions
Analyze IIS and application logs to identify and resolve performance and availability issues
Coordinate OS-level patching and platform upgrades with Windows Server engineering teams
Monitor environments using OpsView and vRealize Log Insight dashboards
Support application onboarding, deployments, and operational troubleshooting
Participate in 24x7 operational support and incident response rotations
Administer Oracle WebLogic domains and clusters across multiple environments (Production and Non-Production)
Administer IBM WebSphere Application Server (ND/Base) and IBM Liberty environments across multiple data centers
Install, configure, patch, and upgrade WebLogic Server and JDK with minimal or zero downtime
Manage cells, nodes, clusters, server instances, and runtime configurations
Manage domains, managed servers, Node Manager, clusters, JDBC data sources, and JMS resources
Automate installation, configuration, and patching using Ansible and WLST scripting
Perform JVM performance tuning including heap sizing, garbage collection analysis, and thread/heap dump analysis
Troubleshoot production incidents related to memory, CPU, stuck threads, connectivity, and deployments
Implement security controls including TLS, certificate lifecycle management, keystores, and truststores
Configure and maintain monitoring using Log Insight, APM, OPSView, Prometheus, and Grafana
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and contribute to incident management and root cause analysis
