Job Description:

Application Development Lead position at Citi, responsible for driving business and operational efficiencies by designing and implementing technology architectures within strategic operating platforms. The role involves contributing to a multi-year transformation to modernize trade processing, middleoffice, and fund services applications using cutting-edge, cloud-ready technology stack.

Job Responsibility:

Translate complex business requirements and functional specifications into robust software solutions
Partner with Product teams to understand business needs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure specifications are converted into flexible, scalable solution designs
Design and build complex solutions ensuring alignment with architecture blueprint and standards
Coordinate and participate in component integration testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing
Solve complex architecture/design and business problems
Provide mentoring and guidance to junior engineers
Maintain application hygiene and address Risk & Control items
Work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Operational users/Product managers
Handle code releases in various environments

Requirements:

6+ years of hands-on experience in Java backend development (Java 8+ preferred)
Deep understanding of core Java concepts, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
Experience with Spring Boot, Spring JPA, Spring Cloud, JDBC, Hibernate, REST, and Maven
Demonstrated proficiency in Java 8+ features (lambda expressions, streams, functional interfaces) and functional programming paradigms
Data transformation experience with various formats (XML, FXML, SWIFT, JSON, CSV)
Extensive experience with microservices architecture and related technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift)
Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience implementing Kafka consumers, producers, and streaming applications
Familiarity with messaging technologies (TIBCO EMS, IBM MQ)
Experience with secure file transfer protocols (SFTP)
Solid understanding of both SQL and NoSQL databases
Hands-on experience with MongoDB preferred
Familiarity with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL)
Experience with Kafka Streams and Apache Flink
Experience working in Agile environment using TDD/BDD best practices
Proficiency with JUnit and Mockito for testing
Good knowledge of DevOps principles and CI/CD practices
Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, IBM UrbanCode Deploy, SonarQube)
Experience implementing RESTful and GraphQL APIs
Experience with WebSocket implementations
Proficiency with Git/Bitbucket for version control
Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Nice to have:

Python programming experience
Front-end experience (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
Master's degree preferred
Experience with other NoSQL databases
