Job Description

Our client, a medical malpractice defense firm in NYC, is seeking an appellate associate with 2-3 years of experience. The candidate must have excellent research and writing skills and be familiar with appellate rules and courts. The appellate attorney candidate will work on complex motions, summary judgments, and appeals. This is a highly specialized area. Our client is seeking an appellate attorney (not a trial lawyer – trial experience Is not needed). In addition to drafting and arguing appeals, the position involves motion practice through all stages of litigation, and in particular in defense of mass tort litigation. The candidate will provide advice and guidance on complex legal issues to colleagues and clients. The candidate will work on federal cases, some asbestos cases, and product liability cases in the medial malpractice field. Our client is seeking a candidate who will be able to hit the ground running. We will consider Assistant District Attorneys that have ample writing experience. Our client has plenty of work to do and works on incredibly interesting cases.

Requirements

  • Licensed attorney with at least two years of experience in appellate practice
  • Proficient in drafting motions, briefs, and legal documents for appellate cases
  • Strong understanding of civil litigation processes and appellate court procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and handle multiple priorities
  • Exceptional research and writing skills with attention to detail and accuracy

Nice to have

  • Experience working on (or interest in) medical malpractice, asbestos, or product liability cases
  • Familiarity with mass tort litigation and defense strategies
  • Assistant District Attorney experience with ample writing experience
