Our client is a Michigan law firm with a national practice that is seeking an experienced Appellate Attorney to join its team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience at both appellate and trial court levels.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide proficient and expert appellate legal representation, including briefing and arguing appeals
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of appellate laws and procedures and provide critical analysis of same on assigned cases
  • Draft, write and argue dispositive motions, including summary disposition/judgment motions, at the trial court level
  • Use expertise in legal research and writing to produce convincing legal arguments to support case strategy
  • Continually update skills and legal knowledge to keep current with changes in legislation and jurisprudence

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Active licensure to practice law in the State of Michigan and good standing with the State Bar
  • A minimum of three years of legal experience, with substantial experience in appellate practice and dispositive motions at the trial court level
  • Demonstrated experience in having briefed and argued several appeals and briefed several summary disposition/judgment motions and having argued several of them
  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex legal analyses both verbally and in writing
