You'll work at the intersection of software engineering and platform operations—building well-crafted APIs while ensuring they run reliably at scale on Kubernetes.

Job Responsibility

  • Design and develop production-grade APIs using Python and FastAPI, following RESTful principles and OpenAPI specifications
  • Build foundational platform APIs that serve as building blocks for the wider organization reusable services that multiple teams and products depend on
  • Establish and maintain API standards across the organization versioning strategies, error handling patterns, authentication flows, and documentation practices
  • Build shared libraries and tooling that help other teams deliver consistent, high-quality APIs
  • Review API designs and implementations, providing guidance to ensure adherence to platform standards
  • Build and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure for hosting APIs, including deployments, services, networking, and observability
  • Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) for automated testing, building, and deploying APIs
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and Helm
  • Configure and operate API gateway solutions for traffic management, rate limiting, and security policies
  • Monitor platform health and proactively address performance and reliability issues
  • Work cross-functionally with development, security, and operations teams to align platform capabilities with business needs
  • Troubleshoot complex issues spanning application code, infrastructure, and networking layers

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience developing APIs in Python, with hands-on FastAPI experience
  • Strong understanding of API design principles REST conventions, OpenAPI/Swagger, versioning, error handling, pagination
  • Solid experience operating Kubernetes in production deployments, services, ingress, networking, troubleshooting
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps)
  • Familiarity with Docker and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have

  • Experience with API gateway platforms (Kong, AWS API Gateway, Azure APIM)
  • Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments
  • Background in platform engineering or developer experience roles
  • Experience establishing API governance practices across an organization

What we offer

  • Support for professional accreditations such as ACCA and study leave
  • Flexible arrangements, generous holidays, plus an additional day off for your birthday
  • Continuous mentoring along your career progression
  • Active sports, events and social committees across our offices
  • 24/7 support available from our Employee Assistance Program
