The purpose of the API Inspector role is to ensure the integrity, reliability, and compliance of fixed equipment such as pressure vessels, piping, and storage tanks in line with API, ASME, and international standards. With certifications in API 510, 570, and 653 etc., the inspector provides technical assurance for inspection, repair, and risk-based integrity programs. The role safeguards asset performance, reduces unplanned downtime, and enhances safety by conducting thorough inspections, applying RBI methodologies, and providing expert recommendations.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct inspections of pressure vessels, piping systems, and aboveground storage tanks as per API 510, 570, and 653 requirements
Monitor repairs, alterations, and rerating activities to ensure compliance with codes and client requirements
Perform/Supervise thickness measurements, corrosion assessments, fitness-for-service evaluations, and remaining life calculations
Identify non-conformities, prepare NCRs, and recommend corrective or preventive actions
Ensure inspection activities are conducted in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
Liaise with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimize asset reliability
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Metallurgy, or related Engineering discipline (preferred). OR Diploma in relevant discipline
API certifications: (At least one) API 510 – Pressure Vessel Inspector, API 570 – Piping Inspector, API 653 – Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector
Minimum 5-12 years of inspection experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power industries
Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII, IX, B31.3, and other relevant standards
Familiarity with corrosion mechanisms, degradation modes
Strong report writing, analytical, and communication skills
Computer literacy with inspection management systems and RBI software
In-depth knowledge of ASME, API, AWS, ISO, and other international inspection standards
Good communication and report-writing skills with proficiency in English
