Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.
Job Responsibility:
Estimate the cost of our datacenter projects to support the short and long-term plans for the corporation
Partner collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure alignment to scope, schedule, and budget
Develop and maintain estimating databases and templates specific to the role
Report out to senior managers on estimate data, project cost progress and assumptions
Perform different types of estimates from conceptual to detailed
Support, develop and improve estimating processes and procedures
Drive standardization and consistency throughout the group
Review engineering documentation/designs, site, and building plans by examining and analyzing technical information
Create and apply best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions for the strategic and tactical delivery of a construction project
Knowledge of and the ability to follow systematic and continuing processes of checking to see whether an estimate is meeting specified requirements

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field AND 12+ years related experience OR equivalent experience
15+ years experience working on data center projects
Deep commercial knowledge of construction internationally
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must possess a clear understanding of the full Construction Life Cycle
Capability to perform all forms and types of estimates from parametric to bottoms up
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills beyond estimating practice
Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations
Should be able to work within a dynamic team of full-time employees and consultants
High personal standard to deliver a thoughtful, polished, and quality work estimate
