Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Estimate the cost of our datacenter projects to support the short and long-term plans for the corporation
  • Partner collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure alignment to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Develop and maintain estimating databases and templates specific to the role
  • Report out to senior managers on estimate data, project cost progress and assumptions
  • Perform different types of estimates from conceptual to detailed
  • Support, develop and improve estimating processes and procedures
  • Drive standardization and consistency throughout the group
  • Review engineering documentation/designs, site, and building plans by examining and analyzing technical information
  • Create and apply best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions for the strategic and tactical delivery of a construction project
  • Knowledge of and the ability to follow systematic and continuing processes of checking to see whether an estimate is meeting specified requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field AND 12+ years related experience OR equivalent experience
  • 15+ years experience working on data center projects
  • Deep commercial knowledge of construction internationally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a clear understanding of the full Construction Life Cycle
  • Capability to perform all forms and types of estimates from parametric to bottoms up
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills beyond estimating practice
  • Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations
  • Should be able to work within a dynamic team of full-time employees and consultants
  • High personal standard to deliver a thoughtful, polished, and quality work estimate

Nice to have:

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 15+ years related experience OR equivalent experience
