Job Description

We are looking for an experienced AP Staff Accountant to join our team in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is a Contract to permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with strong attention to detail to contribute to our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will primarily focus on accounts payable tasks while ensuring accuracy and compliance with all accounting procedures.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a manual purchase order system, adhering to established procedures
  • Maintain a separate ledger for construction-related accounts payable and expedite the approval and payment process
  • Collaborate with various departments, vendors, volunteers, and financial institutions to ensure smooth operations
  • Process and approve invoices for payment, issuing checks on a weekly basis
  • Monitor and manage positive pay systems to ensure accurate financial transactions
  • Collect corporate credit card receipts, input charges into the accounts payable module, and reconcile entries
  • Assist with cash handling processes in collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
  • Record payroll journal entries on a weekly basis
  • Prepare and submit sales tax returns in compliance with regulations

Requirements

  • Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations and managing general ledger accounts
  • Ability to create and post journal entries, particularly for month-end close processes
  • Familiarity with accounting software, such as Financial Edge, is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills to work with internal teams and external parties
  • Knowledge of sales tax preparation and submission procedures
  • Comfortable working in an animal-friendly environment
