Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented AP / Payroll Accountant to join our team in Salinas, California. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting and payroll processes, who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial operations, maintaining compliance, and supporting various accounting functions.

Job Responsibility

  • Process daily invoices and credits by reviewing sales orders for accuracy and addressing outstanding issues to ensure timely completion
  • Prepare payments, verify received amounts against invoices, and post transactions related to accounts receivable
  • Generate and distribute monthly customer statements and investigate account discrepancies or inquiries to assist customers efficiently
  • Maintain accurate customer account records and update billing instructions as needed
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll processing, verify HR-related changes, and ensure compliance with payroll regulations
  • Assist with creating and posting payroll and benefit-related general ledger entries, along with reconciling relevant accounts
  • Support HR and other managers by preparing accounting reports, reconciling accounts, and assisting with audits
  • Train as a backup for accounts payable functions and participate in cross-training opportunities within the accounting department
  • Contribute to the reconciliation of weekly cash and credit card accounts and assist with customer and employee portal tasks

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or payroll-related roles
  • Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliation
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, including bi-weekly payroll and payroll deductions
  • Familiarity with accounting entries, batching, and coding procedures
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and 3-way matching processes
  • Ability to handle payroll for organizations with 101-500 employees, including garnishments and benefits
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and customers
