We are looking for an AP/AR Clerk to join a non-profit organization in Washington, District of Columbia on a Contract basis. This position supports day-to-day accounting operations by managing incoming and outgoing payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with essential administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling both transactional accounting duties and general clerical support in a fast-paced office environment.
Job Responsibility:
Process vendor invoices, prepare payments, and help ensure accounts payable activities are completed accurately and on schedule
Record incoming funds, apply payments to the appropriate accounts, and maintain current accounts receivable balances
Perform regular bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to support accurate financial reporting
Handle cash and check receipts with care, following established procedures for documentation, balancing, and deposit preparation
Generate billing-related documents and support the distribution of statements to maintain timely collections
Update accounting records and billing information within the organization’s financial systems to keep data complete and accurate
Provide clerical assistance such as filing, data entry, and document organization to support the accounting team’s daily workflow
Requirements:
Experience supporting both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions in an accounting or finance environment
Working knowledge of billing processes, including preparing invoices and maintaining billing statements
Familiarity with using accounting or billing systems to enter transactions and track payment activity
Ability to reconcile bank activity and identify inconsistencies with strong attention to detail
Comfortable handling cash and check transactions in a secure and accurate manner
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring administrative and clerical responsibilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work reliably in a team setting
