Job Description:

Lead programs for kids, youth, adults, families, and group activities, such as snorkeling, kayaking, underwater photography and videography, botanic park (terrestrial) tours, sustainable living lessons, arts & crafts, etc. Explain and promote the rules and regulations of the recreation facility intended for the safety and welfare of guests and members. Observe activity in the recreational facility and respond appropriately in accordance with local operating procedure in the event of an emergency. Be aware of possible situations where guests are not able to safely participate in an activity and inform supervisor/manager. Demonstrate knowledge of local and cultural heritage. Prepare for each activity, ensuring that the co-naturalist or attendant is also prepared with any necessary materials, and guiding the group at all times.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead programs for kids, youth, adults, families, and group activities, such as snorkeling, kayaking, underwater photography and videography, botanic park (terrestrial) tours, sustainable living lessons, arts & crafts, etc.

  • Prepare for each activity, ensuring that the co-naturalist or attendant is also prepared with any necessary materials
  • Guide tours whilst conveying scientific information, tailored to the level of the guest(s) on the tour
  • Ensure operation of the Ambassadors of the Environment program in relation to curriculum preparation and development
  • Ensure preparedness of program with any necessary materials and have confidence in guiding the group at all times
  • Participate in the creation of new activities as needed

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, Environmental and Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Science Education, or similar program major
  • Working knowledge and experience in coral reef ecology or environmental education preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English
  • Experience working with children ages 4 to 18 a must
  • A dedication to working with children and educating the next generation about the environment with an appreciation for Cayman's culture & environment is essential
  • Must be a strong swimmer and snorkeler, preferably with CPR/first aid and lifeguard skills
  • Experience leading recreational tours and supervising groups in a variety of environmental conditions
  • Strong team player
  • Able to energize the Ritz-Carlton culture and mission of Ambassadors of the Environment
  • Ability to work a flexible scheduled including evenings, weekends and holidays

Nice to have:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Bachelors’ degree from an accredited university or college in the Environmental Sciences or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related work experience
