Job Description:

Are you passionate about making communities safer and tackling anti-social behaviour? We’re looking for a proactive and dedicated Anti-Social Behaviour Officer to join our team working with Bedford Borough Council. This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll patrol the borough, investigate complaints, and work closely with local partners to reduce anti-social behaviour and improve public safety.

Job Responsibility:

  • Investigate and respond to complaints of anti-social behaviour within agreed timescales
  • Gather and compile evidence to a standard suitable for legal proceedings
  • Develop and lead partnership-based action plans to resolve complex ASB issues
  • Patrol the streets to identify and address ASB hotspots
  • Engage with individuals in the community, including vulnerable and street populations
  • Attend meetings and work closely with community groups and partners
  • Create high-quality reports and maintain accurate records
  • Use a mix of prevention, early intervention, education, and enforcement methods

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year’s experience in statement taking, community engagement, or customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Calm, professional, and resilient under pressure
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
  • Problem-solving mindset with an investigative approach
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

Nice to have:

Previous experience working in partnership settings is desirable
