As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, your role will be to ensure that proper animal care and husbandry is being provided for all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC). You’ll be the primary resource regarding animal care and maintenance. This position will support the achievement of the PCC's budgeted sales and shrink goals. You’ll ensure our merchandising and inventory strategies are executed across the Pet Care Center with your primary focus in companion animals and aquatic life. You will ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Pet Care Center in close partnership with the sales team to meet the needs of the guest and their pet/s.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure proper animal care and husbandry for all companion animals and aquatic life
Be the primary resource regarding animal care and maintenance
Support achievement of budgeted sales and shrink goals
Ensure merchandising and inventory strategies are executed
Ensure efficient and effective operations of the Pet Care Center
Process register transactions
Be proficient within our selling model and support guest interactions
Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed
Complete and apply training programs
Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration
Adhere to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures
Evaluate guest inquiries
Act as primary resource for guests regarding all animal education and care
Efficiently order companion animals, aquatic life, supplies and merchandise
Analyze department inventory management data
Perform routine housekeeping tasks
Ensure proper handling and documentation for all relinquished and adoption animals
Verify animal related maintenance tasks are completed
Participate in animal and aquatic life related physical inventory counts
Adhere to and promote established safety and loss prevention procedures
Perform additional duties and projects as required
Requirements:
Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for companion animals and aquatic life
High level of knowledge of companion animals and aquatic life
Aptitude for sales techniques
Professional appearance and demeanor
Keen and genuine interest in animals and their care
Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
High school diploma or its equivalent (GED)
Proficiency in mathematics and basic accounting relationships
Exceptional communication skills
Ability and willingness to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
