The Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) is an integral member of the anesthesia care team, responsible for providing direct and indirect support to the Anesthesiologist or CRNA in the preparation, delivery, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies. This role ensures a safe and efficient environment for patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures.
Job Responsibility:
Equipment Management: Prepares, calibrates, troubleshoots, and cleans anesthesia machines, monitors (ECG, SpO2, NIBP, EtCO2), ventilators, and other anesthesia-related equipment
Supply Preparation: Stocks and organizes anesthesia carts and workstations, ensuring the availability of necessary medications, airway management supplies, intravenous fluids, and emergency equipment
Patient Support (Indirect): Assists with patient positioning, airway management preparations, and other tasks as directed by the anesthesia provider
Maintenance & Sterilization: Performs routine maintenance and basic repairs on equipment
ensures proper sterilization and disinfection protocols are followed
Documentation: Maintains accurate records of equipment checks, supply inventories, and other relevant information
Safety & Compliance: Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including infection control and hazardous waste management
Collaboration: Communicates effectively with anesthesia providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technologist program and current certification as a Certified Anesthesia Technologist through the American Society of AnesthesiaTechnicians and Technologists (ASATT)
Related work experience with licensing as an LPN, RT, Paramedic or EMT that would demonstrate possession of the requisite job knowledge/abilities
