Job Responsibility:
Performs a variety of technical assignments for the Department of Anesthesiology exercising a high degree of skill, judgment and knowledge of the terminology, common procedures and practices of the assigned area.
Performs set-up of medications and supplies in both the work room and mobile carts, and anesthesia equipment set-up and trouble shooting.
Assist anesthesia providers, including: preparation of anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival, placement of equipment in the operating rooms, ensuring cleanliness of anesthesia equipment, cart and machine set-up of supplies and medications based on case variables including: patient age, case type and case length, between cases and at the end of the day in each operating room, work room and mobile cart.
Ensure availability of specialized anesthesia supplies required for cases in designated operating rooms.
Perform moderate to advanced equipment set up, calibration, operation and troubleshooting.
Participate in the Cell Saver and Liver Transplant Programs including on-call procedure.
Perform set-up and support of ectopic procedures for anesthesia care ensuring proper equipment is in place for out-of-OR procedures.
Function as a resource and support person for Anesthesiology providers.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Operations Manager.
Requirements:
A two-year college education which included technical training closely related to this position
or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Walking, prolonged standing of 8 hours or more, lifting at least 40 pounds and moving heavy equipment.
