We are looking for an Android Engineer to help shape and enhance a widely used mobile experience serving customers at scale. This long-term contract position is based in San Francisco, California, and offers the opportunity to work remotely while partnering closely with product, design, and engineering teammates across time zones. The role focuses on building high-impact Android features, improving reliability and performance, and contributing to customer-facing experiences that influence engagement and retention.
Job Responsibility
Design, build, and refine Android features for a high-traffic consumer application using modern development practices
Create customer-facing experiences across key product journeys such as discovery, purchasing, and live order visibility
Develop mobile interfaces and application components with Kotlin and contemporary Android frameworks, including Jetpack Compose
Work closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineers to turn business goals into effective app experiences
Improve application responsiveness, reliability, and usability across a wide range of Android devices and challenging network environments
Investigate issues within owned features from initial report through resolution, ensuring strong end-to-end quality
Contribute to experimentation efforts that support product growth, customer engagement, and business performance
Maintain well-structured, reusable, and scalable code that supports long-term development velocity
Support development and deployment workflows by working within established tooling, version control, and continuous integration practices
Requirements
5+ years of Android development experience
Strong proficiency in Kotlin and hands-on experience building Android mobile applications
Experience developing modern Android user interfaces with Jetpack Compose or similar Android UI frameworks
Familiarity with backend-integrated mobile development and exposure to technologies such as Ruby, Go, or GraphQL
Experience building personalized, recommendation-driven, or dynamic content experiences within consumer-facing apps
Working knowledge of analytics and observability platforms, including tools such as DataDog
Comfort working with Git-based version control and CI workflows in a collaborative engineering environment
Ability to operate with a high level of ownership in fast-moving startup or mid-sized product organizations
