SRG are delighted to once again be partnered with one of Scotland's leading science start-ups who have multiple sites across the West of Scotland. 2026 is forecast to be an exciting year of growth for this organisation following on from a successful fundraise in 2025. They are currently recruiting for chemists with analytical experience to join their expanding team. They are recruiting across varying levels of seniority (graduate up to senior) to support the high-throughput analytical operations within their state-of-the-art labs. As an Analytical Technician, you'll play a key part in generating high‑quality analytical data using techniques such as NMR and UPLC‑MS/LC-MS. You'll support sample preparation, instrument operation, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and workflow optimisation. Working in a large multi-disciplinary team you will help refine and improve laboratory processes in a large scale production workflow. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy, technical environment and enjoys being hands‑on with analytical instrumentation.

Job Responsibility

  • Generating high‑quality analytical data using techniques such as NMR and UPLC‑MS/LC-MS
  • Support sample preparation, instrument operation, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and workflow optimisation
  • Help refine and improve laboratory processes in a large scale production workflow

Requirements

  • HNC or above in chemistry, applied sciences or a similar field
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to follow established processes and protocols
  • Comfortable working on a variety of shifts (early, day, late) as and when required

Nice to have

  • Previous experience in industry or academia with UPLC-MS/LC-MS and/or NMR systems
  • Prior experience with analytical sample preparation

  • Maintain, calibrate, validate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
  • Ensure accurate documentation including maintenance and calibration logs, validation reports, SOPs, and lessons learned
  • Support general lab operations including inventory management, gas and waste handling, supply ordering, lab organization, cleaning, and HSE walkthroughs
  • Manage and organize laboratory data, including recording, cleaning, and basic analysis
  • Apply introductory coding skills (e.g., Python) to support simple data processing tasks
