12-month placement for a Radiochemistry or Environmental Scientist undergraduate student. Job Responsibility:
Work with world-class scientists providing analytical capabilities and expert advice
Ensure regulatory and license conditions are met
Perform radiochemistry separations to isolate and purify trace actinides from environmental samples
Characterise isotopic and elemental signatures using inorganic mass spectrometry
Isolate and purify a range of nuclides from environmental and radioactive samples
Perform radiometric analysis and data analysis
Plan and perform analysis using gamma spectroscopy, liquid scintillation counting and alpha spectrometry
Assist in environmental programme development and review to support Best Available Techniques (BAT) studies
Support the bulk waste characterisation programme
Manage tasks and sentence waste using statistical reporting
Gain experience in data manipulation and uploading of data to support permit compliance
