Job Description

Global regulators have an increasing expectation that firms have adequate systems and controls to conduct surveillance against, among others, market abuse offences such as Insider Dealing, Market Manipulation and Dissemination.  Offshore Surveillance teams support compliance officers across all business lines in carrying out key compliance monitoring, surveillance and support activities. The team (Communication Surveillance) will support onshore Compliance offices and the various businesses Globally. The purpose is to undertake surveillance in a timely manner thus ensuring compliance (market abuse, breach of internal policies, suitability, best execution, etc.) with applicable regulations and policies. Overall, the incumbent will provide guidance / supervision and accountability for the day-to-day offshore activities.

Job Responsibility

  • Review audio and electronic communications alerts to detect potential cases of market abuse, market manipulation or potential breaches of any internal HSBC policies
  • Escalate potential regulatory and internal market misconduct breaches as necessary, gather evidence and document findings in a clear and logical manner
  • Eliminate alerts with no issue in a timely manner
  • Work with surveillance technology and review platforms, contribute to testing of new surveillance tools
  • Consistently achieve process / queue TATs as per PLAs by ensuring to achieve individual daily/weekly production commitments stipulated by line management
  • Work with colleagues in Krakow and other Compliance Teams in order to contribute to global improvements in Surveillance
  • Contribute to relationship management meetings and maintain a close relationship with onshore partners
  • Continuously expand your knowledge in the dynamic field of financial market, financial instruments and the related market abuse risks in order to increase the effectiveness of controls.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English. Any other EU language will be a plus
  • Educated to degree level
  • Prior experience working in the financial services, or genuine interest in the field
  • Knowledge of financial markets and financial market regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong ability to learn new technologies
  • Strong analytical skills and a good eye for detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight timelines. Excellent time management and prioritization of work tasks
  • Knowledge of Electronic / Audio Surveillance monitoring tools.
