Job Description:

Finance in Motion is currently seeking an Analyst Environmental & Social Management (m/f/d). As a member of the Environmental and Social (E&S) Management team, you will primarily work on funds with a regional focus in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of company’s Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS)
  • Support Finance in Motion’s investment teams to execute the Company’s approach to E&S risk management throughout the investment cycle
  • E&S screening of prospective investments against the funds’ E&S eligibility criteria
  • Planning and performance of in-depth E&S due diligence, with a focus on E&S management policies, practices and capacities at investee level
  • Negotiation of value-adding E&S action plans with investees
  • Writing E&S memoranda to support investment proposals and advising investment decision makers
  • Monitoring and reporting on the ongoing E&S performance of individual investees and overall fund portfolios
  • Support the development of methodologies and tools for E&S management and related fields
  • Contribute to building and implement E&S frameworks for new fund mandates
  • Provide E&S training to internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to technical and policy-level discussions on impact & sustainability issues as well as fund results with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • University degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, economics, development finance, sustainability management, social science or a related field
  • Relevant internships and/or initial work experience in E&S risk management and similar work in environmental consultancies, or development finance sectors
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and service orientation combined with the ability to draw actionable conclusions and pragmatic recommendations for decision-makers
  • Organizational skills and self-drive
  • Open, engaging and persuasive communication style, strong writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent English, Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills

knowledge of other languages of Finance in Motion’s countries of operation is considered a plus

  • Protective Research & Threat Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis on persons of interest (POIs), hostile actors, and groups with the intent or capability to target principals. Assess motivations, capability, opportunity, and intent to identify potential attack indicators.
  • Travel Risk Intelligence: Provide proactive intelligence support to executive protection teams during domestic and international travel, including country risk assessments, route reconnaissance, hotel and venue security reviews, and incident monitoring during trips. Deliver timely updates to traveling principals and EP teams.
  • Protective Operations Support: Deliver actionable, real-time intelligence to EP teams in support of principal movements, protective advances, route planning, and residence/event security. Maintain constant threat environment awareness and communicate relevant changes.
  • Geopolitical & Environmental Risk Tracking: Monitor global and regional security issues, including terrorism, political unrest, crime trends, natural disasters, and health risks—that could affect principals’ safety during travel or at residences/events.
  • Actionable Reporting & Products: Produce timely, clear, and actionable intelligence products including: Threat assessments (strategic and tactical), Travel risk assessments (pre-trip and in-trip updates), Situation reports (SITREPs) and incident summaries, Route and location assessments (residences, hotels, venues, offices)
  • Threat Mitigation Recommendations: Provide practical, proportionate recommendations to EP teams on how to mitigate identified threats, risks, and vulnerabilities. Offer clear triggers and indicators for escalation or operational adjustments.
