The Ammunition Technician position is located in Meaford, Ontario at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre. This role involves managing the receipt, storage, issue, transportation, and disposal of ammunition and explosives while ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and policies.
Job Responsibility:
Select, inspect, and prepare ammunition for issue
Inspect and repackage stores upon receipt
Receive stores from other ammunition facilities or manufacturers
Verify and complete all supply documentation before forwarding to ammunition inventory control
Conduct periodic ammunition inspections
Inspect and segregate aides-to-production, ammunition scrap, and munitions scrap
Dispose of non-serviceable non-explosive stores and salvage materials
Store all items in accordance with established policies and procedures
Prepare shipments of ammunition, explosives, explosive components, and general stores
Create transportation documentation compliant with laws, policies, and procedures for shipping dangerous goods and general stores
Ensure compliance with and provide guidance on laws and regulations governing the handling, storage, and transport of explosives and ammunition
Complete special projects by required deadlines as assigned by the supervisor
Maintain excellent customer service and a safe working environment
Comply with all Department of National Defense (DND) and Canadian Base Operators (CBO) policies and procedures
4 years of working as either a military Ammunition Technician or Civilian Ammunition Technician or a combination of both
Hold a valid class G driver’s licence with a clear driving record and be able to obtain and maintain a military 404 driving licence
Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance- continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is a mandatory requirement.
Nice to have:
Current 3K Transport of Dangerous Goods certification would be considered an asset
Proficient knowledge and understanding of the following are considered an asset: Forklifts
Pallet jacks
Carts
3-ton truck with airbrake certification
Zoom boom (RTFL)
Proficient user of: AIMS, DRMIS, AESIMS would be considered an asset
