SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be responsible for providing efficient and safe transportation for patients requiring medical services at local or out of the area facilities.
Job Responsibility:
Operate the ambulance/back-up unit to provide safe and efficient transportation for patients
Acquire comprehensive understanding of geographical area of operations and surrounding areas
Safely operate ambulance in all weather, terrain, and road conditions
Identify location of all equipment on ambulance and conduct/completing ambulance check sheet
Clean and decontaminate ambulance after each run and ensure documentation
Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital matters and use proper communication channels
Maintain good time and attendance records, participate in staff meetings and projects, maintain positive attitude
Work all shifts assigned including weekends, nights, and holidays, flexible with schedules
Work as a team member with flexibility, personal integrity, and ability to work effectively with all
Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)
Valid driver's license and insurable under CTCHEC insurance policy
AHA CPR certified (or willing to obtain within 60 days of employment)
Ability to lift heavy patients and equipment (minimum of 50 lbs.)
Ability to see, hear, sit, stand, bend, lift and move throughout shift
Familiarity with main geographical area of operations and surrounding areas
Ability to safely operate ambulance/back-up unit in all weather, terrain, road conditions
Understanding of confidentiality of patient and hospital matters
Knowledge of proper communication channels and chain of command
Good time and attendance records
Positive attitude
Flexibility with working schedules and frequent interruptions
Ability to handle hostile/emotionally upset patients, family members, personnel, visitors
Willingness to work beyond normal hours, weekends, holidays
Knowledge of personal safety and handling infectious waste/disease (HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis)
Ability to handle harsh weather and extreme temperature changes
Strong communication skills
Good general health and emotional stability
Must pass background check, physical, and pre-employment drug screen
