Make your mark as an allround ships electronics engineer by performing independent work on Electrical & Instrumentation systems on board ships with complex control systems. You will maintain and synchronise all operating and control systems on board (power electronics and PLC technology). You will be part of the team making sure our fleet is in optimal condition and maintained up to standard. The job as allround ships electronics engineer is based on our ships. Our fleet, consisting of around +600 vessels and pieces of machinery constitutes Boskalis’ real capital. The ships are deployed throughout the world (primarily in the international arena). Planning for the ships and crews takes place at the head office in Papendrecht. The fleet complies with the strict international ISM Code. You will ensure that all electrical & instrumentation systems and nautical instruments on the assigned vessels are operational and contribute to an optimal production process. You will schedule repairs and enter all work carried out in Maximo (maintenance planning system). In the position of allround ships electronics engineer you will report to the chief engineer and the electrical & instrumentation fleet engineer. An example of a project you could work on is, updating a PLC program for an extension of a drive pump for a dredge pipeline.
Job Responsibility:
Planning, scheduling and implementing maintenance and repairs on the various electronic and instrumentation installations on board
Maintenance and calibration of all control and operating equipment (electrical ( power) drive systems and PLC technology)
Resolving urgent electrical problems on board
Implementing and monitoring the general technical and safety standards and reporting on possible improvements
Requirements:
At least 5 years relevant work experience on board of complex ships, preferably in the dredging industry
Completed secondary or advanced technical education on bachelor (hbo) level
All necessary professional courses, such as Fire Fighting, Survival at Sea, First Aid, etc.
Have proven knowledge of and experience with PLC and computer technology and information technology ( Scada / network etc)
Knowledge of (large) frequency controlled drive systems
Familiar with marine navigation, communication & control systems
Knowledge of the dredging or stone-dumping process and related instruments
A good command of written and spoken English
No objections to travel (within Europe, Middle East, Far East) on a fairly regular basis
