Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Airworthiness Engineer located at the Redstone Test Center in Huntsville, AL. Astrion has worked extensively with the U.S. Army Redstone Test Center where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as Airworthiness Engineer within the US Army Redstone Test Center (RTC) Aviation Flight Test Directorate (AFTD) Flight Test Support Office (FTSO) responsible for creating airworthiness documentation
Review and assess mechanical and electrical drawings and analyses as they relate to modifications to Army aircraft for airworthiness purposes
Provide guidance and interpretation on policies, procedures, and technical limitations to internal teams, ensuring that proposed solutions are both feasible and compliant
Serve as liaison between internal teams and directorate Chief Engineer
Develops and finalizes external and high-visibility work products for the Directorate, while ensuring high quality deliverables are completed on time and with customer satisfaction
Act as central liaison for other Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) organizations requiring AFTD airworthiness and engineering support
Support management of US Army airworthiness release coordination process
Participate as a key member of the Airworthiness Committee prior to documentation submission
Serve as Request for Modification (RFM) signature authority for the FTSO
Maintain aircraft non-standard books
Requirements:
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in appropriate area of specialization (aerospace, mechanical, or electrical preferred) or related discipline from an accredited college/university and 0-6 years of experience performing engineering duties in designing, constructing, and testing aircraft, missiles, and spacecraft
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Government security clearance (Must be a U.S. Citizen)
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening
Must be flexible in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable events
Familiar with and able to present data to a large audience including senior leaders
Thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once
Superb verbal and written communication skills
Nice to have:
Intermediate knowledge of aircraft/aircraft systems and/or test and evaluation experience highly desired
Intermediate competency with MS Office suite and technical writing desired
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
