Job Description

Yulista has immediate openings for qualified Aircraft Sheet Metal – Structures Mechanics (II & III) based in Birmingham, AL. These individuals will be responsible for assessing aircraft damage and drafting repair procedures to aircraft structural and composite components. Must be able to utilize advanced metalworking practices and depot level techniques to form, cut, bend, and fasten new / repair components to damaged structures. Must be highly proficient in close tolerance drilling/reaming for installation of high-strength fasteners. Expert in the use powered / non-powered metalworking tooling and equipment.

Job Responsibility

  • Inspect / assess damage to aircraft structural components and formulate proper repair/replacement procedures
  • Remove and install close tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major aircraft structural components
  • Designs structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatments
  • Perform post repair flight control weight and balance functions as well as control surface rigging
  • Inspect components/repairs for structural serviceability
  • Manufactures / use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds to fabricate repair or replacement parts
  • Use advanced metalworking practices, equipment, and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts
  • Able to train shop drawing and depot level metal layout techniques
  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures
  • Uses automated maintenance systems
  • Inspects, clears, and closes out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems
  • Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements
  • Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials
  • Operates and maintains related aircraft Support Equipment (SE)
  • Use automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends
  • Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks
  • Maintain strict tool control procedures
  • Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance
  • Maintain equipment records

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Level II: 5+ years of relevant aircraft depot level structural maintenance experience with fixed / rotary wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft
  • Level III: 12+ years of relevant aircraft structural maintenance experience with fixed / rotary wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft, 5+ years of which having performed depot level structural maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, technical documentation, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Highly knowledgeable of fixed wing aircraft construction features, identification and characteristics of aerospace materials
  • Extensive knowledge in fabrication and depot repair / replacement of metal components, tubing, cable, plastic, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite structural components
  • Intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers
  • Ability to follow processes
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance

  • Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
