Job Description:

Provide maintenance on aircraft based at NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia. Main responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining, aircraft structural, mechanical, avionic, and electrical systems. Additional duties will include integration and de-integration of research test equipment for flight testing purposes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide maintenance on aircraft based at NASA Langley Research Center
  • Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and maintain aircraft structural, mechanical, avionic, and electrical systems
  • Integrate and de-integrate research test equipment for flight testing purposes
  • Utilize computers, hand, and mechanical tools
  • Provide oversight and direct/train others
  • Perform Designated Inspector (DSI) duties
  • Document maintenance per NASA QA and regulatory requirements
  • Perform FOD walks and maintain housekeeping
  • Follow tools control policies
  • Comply with safety rules and report violations
  • Enter maintenance records
  • Travel and deploy off site in support of NASA projects

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification
  • personal aircraft mechanic hand tools and a roll around toolbox
  • toolboxes shadowed and inventoried
  • knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • experience with structural repair fabrication
  • valid driver’s license and U.S. Passport
  • ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Government\Public Trust Clearance
  • ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test
  • required to submit to Government mandated random drug testing
  • ability to obtain and maintain a NASA flight physical

Nice to have:

  • Preferred 5+ years of experience maintaining Boeing and Gulfstream corporate jet aircraft
  • Intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred
