The Aircraft Mechanic II (Fuel Cell) is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.
Job Responsibility
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and modify fuel systems
Drain fuel from tanks and cells
Perform purge operations on cells and tanks
Removes, reassembles, and installs components
Cleans and inspect fuel cells
Monitors the need for sealants and necessary seals for mission support
Inspect and repair aircraft fuel systems
Monitor bench stock, shop stock and Composite Tool Kits (CTK's)
Perform on and off equipment maintenance, as required
Uses maintenance instructions and technical data for inspections and maintenance in the repair of aircraft
Provides the specialized knowledge to accomplish difficult repairs and perform major repairs, as needed
Document discrepancies in the applicable form(s) and inputs data in Maintenance Information Systems
Orders materials and supplies, as required
Ensures compliance with applicable safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs
Must be able to work, day shift, second shift, third shift, and/or weekend shift, as required
May be tasked to perform work center additional duties with provided training
Shall perform other duties within classification
Must be able to travel to include TDY

Requirements
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required
Must have a strong working knowledge of fuel systems maintenance procedures and completion of fuel systems specialized courses are required
A working knowledge of procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials is required
Must be able to obtain and flightline driver’s license
The ability to read and interpret data is required
Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather
Must meet physical requirements, occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required
A signed FAA 8610-2 form is required
Must possess an Airframe Certificate within one year from your date of hire
Must possess effective communication abilities both verbally and in writing
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
Must be able to obtain & maintain a flightline driver’s license

Working with fuels, oils, lubricants, chemical cleaners, and solutions is preferred
